Carbon Reduction Plan
1. Organisational Overview
Icons Group Ltd provides supported living, domiciliary care, and supported accommodation services for young people and adults with complex needs across Northamptonshire and neighbouring authorities.
Operating from Office S4, Redhouse Road, Moulton Park Business Centre, Northampton NN3 6AD, we support individuals to live safely and independently within their communities. We recognise that the care sector has a direct impact on the environment through travel, property energy use and supply-chain activity — and we are fully committed to reducing that footprint.
Our Carbon Reduction Plan aligns with the UK Government’s Net Zero 2050 target and demonstrates Icons Group Ltd’s commitment to sustainable, low-carbon service delivery throughout all contracts, including the North Northamptonshire Supported Accommodation Framework.
2. Baseline Emissions and Reporting Scope
- Baseline year: 2024 – 2025 (first full year of data collection).
- Scope 1: Fuel consumption from company vehicles and on-site energy use.
- Scope 2: Electricity purchased for offices and supported accommodation settings.
- Scope 3 (subset): Business travel, staff commuting, waste management, procurement, and subcontractor transport.
Icons Group Ltd uses the UK Government Conversion Factors for Company Reporting (2025 edition) and follows the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard.
3. Commitment to Net Zero
Icons Group Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse-gas emissions by 2050 or earlier, in accordance with Procurement Policy Note 06/21. We view environmental stewardship as part of our care ethos — creating safe, sustainable, and healthy environments for those we support.
4. Carbon-Reduction Targets
| Year | Target | Description |
| 2028 | 30 % reduction | Reduce Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 30 % through fleet electrification and improved energy efficiency. |
| 2032 | 50 % reduction | Reduce combined Scopes 1 – 3 by 50 % through smarter logistics, digitalisation, and sustainable supply chains. |
| 2050 | Net Zero | Achieve carbon neutrality across all Icons Group Ltd operations. |
5. Environmental Management Measures
Icons Group Ltd integrates sustainability into every layer of its operational model. The following measures are embedded or in progress:
- Low-Emission Fleet Transition: Replacing petrol vehicles with hybrid and electric models. Each supported-accommodation property will be serviced using local care teams to minimise mileage.
- Energy-Efficient Properties: Supported-living and supported-accommodation units are being upgraded with LED lighting, efficient boilers, thermostatic controls, and smart meters to monitor energy use in real time.
- Digital Care Delivery: Electronic records, virtual meetings, and digital audits have replaced paper-based systems, reducing both waste and staff travel.
- Staff Sustainability Training: All staff receive induction and refresher training on environmental awareness, recycling, and efficient fuel and energy use.
- Supplier Sustainability Standards: We prioritise partnerships with suppliers who demonstrate low-carbon operations, ethical sourcing, and environmentally responsible practices.
- Waste and Recycling Programme: We aim to reduce general waste by 20 % and achieve 70 % recycling across all properties by 2028.
- Sustainable Procurement: We source local food, cleaning materials, and maintenance supplies to reduce transport miles and support the local green economy.
